Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
EduSmartTV (“we”) is a service that shows a school timetable on a TV. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not to hide things.
What we collect
- Account: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash (scrypt), never in readable form.
- Household content: the household name, the timetable, reminders, and any files you upload (such as the school's timetable PDF).
- Membership: who belongs to which household and their role (owner or member), and the invite links that were created.
- Technical data: a session cookie that keeps you signed in, and the IP address and time of sign-in attempts, kept for security.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising or analytics trackers.
- We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it to build profiles.
Children
Accounts are for adults (parents, guardians, family members and tutors). Children use EduSmartTV only by looking at the TV, with no account. The timetable may contain a child's first name or class: you decide what to include, and we recommend keeping it to the minimum.
How we use the data
- To provide the service: show your timetable on your TV and let your household edit it.
- To keep it secure: block repeated failed sign-ins and investigate abuse.
- To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
The TV link
Each household has a private link to show the timetable on a TV. Anyone who has that link can see the timetable, but not change it. A household owner can replace the link at any time, and the old one stops working immediately.
Where the data is stored and who processes it
Data is stored on servers we operate in Brazil. Traffic to the website and the app passes through Cloudflare, which provides the secure connection and protection against attacks, and which processes IP addresses for that purpose. We don't share your data with anyone else, except where required by law.
If, in the future, you choose to connect services such as Samsung SmartThings or Amazon Alexa to control your TV, the data needed for that connection will be shared with that provider, only with your permission, and this policy will be updated first.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account or household exists. When a household is deleted, its timetable and files are deleted. Records of sign-in attempts are kept for a short time only. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, and we'll do it within 30 days.
Your rights
Under Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD), and similar laws in other countries such as the GDPR, you can ask to access, correct, export or delete your data, and to find out how it is used. Write to [email protected].
Security
We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), password hashing, limits on sign-in attempts, and separation between households. No system is perfectly secure: if a problem affects your data, we'll let you know.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, notify you by email.
